this morning are fading down around southern west virginia. all the heavy weather across south bend, indiana, here in ann arbor, michigan, right here where the games were so severely impacted by the bad weather they're still getting pounded by thunderstorms here this evening and on the gulf coast, heavy vain from houston all the way to pensacola, florida. all that rain, this rain here and the rain across the upper midwest and showers in southern virginia will all eventually combine into one very long stretch of wet weather that we're going to have to deal with around here beginning monday afternoon and potentially lasting all the way through thursday or friday of the upcoming week. so enjoy the quiet night tonight. patchy fog first thing in the morning and high pressure giving way off the eastern seaboard so that will allow for one or two thunderstorms to bubble up tomorrow in the late morning, early-afternoon hours. we're stopped at 6:00 tomorrow evening. fading showers and some may drift east of the mountains and get to the washington metro area but probably not until after the sun goes do

. there are showers moving out of illinois and into indiana. those may be coming our way later today. right now we're in the 60s throughout most of the region to near 70 in washington. right by the chesapeake bay. we'll have this clear sky with us throughout the day today as we go forward over the next 12 hours, though, we'll have a sunny morning. as we get into the afternoon hours, we'll have some clouds on the increase. might have a few showers developing to our south. as we get into the evening hours, that's when we have an increased chance of perhaps some showers coming in. sunrise is at 6:48. by midnight, mid-70s and 80s by noon time. increasing clouds by late afternoon. i don't think we'll have any showers in here perhaps until after maybe 6:00 or 7:00 this evening. maybe thunder and lightning through the evening hours. tomorrow morning, starting off thursday, back to work and school tomorrow morning. maybe with showers and maybe a little thunder in the morning. should see sun back in the afternoon with a blustery northwest wind and highs in the mid-70s. that northwest wind is going to usher

away over southern indiana, western kentucky. we're on the eastern side of it. it continues to tap moisture. we're still dealing with the runoff from yesterday's heavy rains. all these areas in green still have creeks and streams out of their banks, and there's high standing water in southern maryland and prince george's county and prince william and fairfax and southern loudoun county into montgomery and frederick county. right now the radar is showing some scattered light to moderate showers in montgomery county, southern fairfax, into prince george's county and western parts of charles county and southeastern prince william. those areas in yellow, it's coming down a little bit harder. some moderate rain there in western charles county and southeastern prince william county. there's one moderate shower as well in central montgomery county. they're all advancing off to the northwest out of the southeast. first light of day showing up. our sunrise is about 15 minutes away. we'll have a passing shower this morning. perhaps a heavy downpour. then maybe a little sun breaking out after

in indianapolis, indiana. that is because the humidity is so high there. so for friday, a touch of humidity. saturday and sunday, a lot of it. a little weak disturbance coming through the area receipt now, so that's producing showers we have had, running all the way down to the south. it will be over the early part of the day tomorrow. a few showers midday, and then sunshine for the afternoon on your friday. we're watching not only katia, but we're also watching this area of disturbed weather in the gulf of mexico. it may become a tropical depression and it may also become tropical storm lee, which is interesting, because by the time we get to sunday, second half of our labor day weekend and monday, that storm system, its moisture to get entrained ahead of a cold front, and you might notice not only humidity, but more of a tropical feel to the air for the second half of the weekend. and the latest on tropical storm katia. its winds, well, down under 75 miles per hour. so it's now a tropical storm. watch its movement toward the leeward islands. sunday, by noontime, then a category 3 as it is

and now it's drifting a little bit to the west, spinning over southern indiana and southern ohio, and it's just a stacked low pressure system that is locked in place, and it is not moving. as a result, we have had this continual flow out of the southeast bringing in the tropical moisture. we still have residual flooding from the rains from yesterday. creeks and streams still out of their banks in st. mary's, in calvert, in charles. prince george's, anne arundel county as well as, of course, in fairfax and prince william, southern loudoun, montgomery, as well as frederick county in maryland. the radar over the last hour has been showing an increase in some showers that have been popping up. thankfully, though, they're not turning into heavy downpours yet, about you they could. we have them stretching from southern maryland right here into washington, into far eastern fairfax county, southern montgomery county now. they are getting moderate shower there in bethesda right across the district line and then right across the potomac into mclean. they're getting a light to moderate shower there

are stuck in place to our west, over kentucky and ohio and indiana, and it's stacked deep into the atmosphere and continuing to spin away and continuing to bring in clouds for us and some occasional showers. right now, reagan national is just downriver from this drippy live scene from our city camera. it's 72 there. and there's a light east wind with some light rain there right now. and as we look at the latest flood warnings, we've had now fewer counties under flood warnings. these include now in southern maryland, charles, st. mary's, parts of extreme eastern prince george's county and parts of anne arundell and calvert, where the creeks and streams there are still out of their banks. also montgomery and frederick county in maryland have some of the major rivers like the ma knocksy and seneca creek near or above flood stage. here's the latest radar. over the last hour, we've had one really heavy downpour. where you see the pockets of orange in annapolis and anne arundell county, that's advancing to the north. we have other areas of light rain in fairfax county, in montgo
